Image into Scene
Creative Writing 118
Usual Description
A course where poets and fiction writers examine which elements of poetry can be adapted to fiction writing. Daily journal entries focus on close observation. Weekly reading and writing assignments emphasize the function of image as a foundational element in setting, character and scene. Revision exercises emphasize the micro-structures of diction, syntax and sound. Writing assignments evolve from one scene stories, memory snapshots, character sketches, and moments of being, to longer stories with multiple scenes.
