Usual Description

This hybrid course examines the roots of literary modernism and postmodernism in continental philosophy. We will read theoretical texts by Nietzsche, Derrida, Rorty, Vattimo, Lyotard, Jameson, Irigarary, and Levi-Strauss; fiction by Barnes, Perec, Borges, Chu T’ien-wen, Kis, and Duras. Diversity, Post-1900 Prequisites and Notes: A literature course in any language. Cross-listed with ENGL 370
