Usual Description

What can Marxian social science contribute to understanding important political, social and economic questions in various countries? What are its limits? What is specific about a Marxian analysis (compared with other critical traditions)? Topics may include: capitalist crisis; the state; class; labor politics; urban politics; the environment; imperialism; globalization; ideology; social movements; and feasible socialist futures. The course takes seriously issues of qualitative methodology, and emphasizes discussion.
