Usual Description

This course is the team-taught entryway to the Studio and Visual Arts major. It is structured as an introduction to materials, studio practice, and concepts that are the foundation of the Studio curriculum. Thematically structured assignments spanning 2D, 3D, and Time-based Media provide an interdisciplinary foundation for building visual literacy that emphasizes exploration over disciplinary specialization. Additional coursework involves the discussion of assigned readings, in progress and completed projects, and in-class presentations.
