The Psychology of Creativity

First-Year Seminar Program 037

Usual Description

What happens in the brain during a moment of inspiration?  What environmental conditions foster creativity?  How do researchers study creativity?  This course will explore our scientific understanding of creativity, starting with research examining cognitive processes within the individual and moving to research investigating the broader sociocultural context surrounding the individual.  We will read and discuss original research, focusing on the logic researchers use to support their claims.
